Remediation of former water treatment plant

Cognition has been contracted to process the materials already present on site, to carry out cut & fill works and to construct multiple piling matts for Phases 2 and 3 of the development at the former water treatment plant. Cognition’s task included segregation and processing of the existing stockpiles, cut and fill of site with removal of the remaining underground obstructions, screening, crushing and chemical and geotechnical testing of stockpiled and processed materials for the re-use on site. All backfilling was done in accordance to Series 600 SHW. Piling mats were constructed using soil stabilisation with cement. The strategy was designed sustainably with all material retained on site wherever possible while achieving proposed final construction levels.
