The Approach

Cognition Land and Water was appointed by RiverLinx CJV to carry out the enabling and civils works to construct the new coach park at the site.  The key elements of our works included: 

• Implement a strict regime of environmental monitoring and set up the site with appropriate safe systems of work, briefings, training, PPE and audit procedures to ensure compliance with RiverLinx’s contract requirements
• Site clearance and minor demolition works
• Segregation and processing of reusable aggregates
• Groundwater control including pump and treat
• Minor cut and fill earthworks operations
• Construct ramps and retaining walls
• Installation of drainage and services ducting
• Full road, parking and apron pavement construction including line markings, street lighting, bollards and other street furniture
• Installation of fencing, CCTV and other security and technology services

The Outcome

Cognition successfully completed the construction and handover of the coach park to the satisfaction of the client on time and within budget despite a challenging programme over the Christmas holiday period.  Soils were reused onsite wherever possible under the DoWCoP and WRAP procedures ensuring the sustainability credentials of the overall project were upheld.  Cognition also completed the main drainage works resulting in the minimisation of disruption during the main construction phase.  We are proud to have achieved an overall H&S audit score of over 93% in the twenty-one audits carried out during the works.
