‘It was a tough one to swallow at Donington on the weekend. Sometimes, lady luck just isn’t on your side, and this was definitely a good way of summing up our weekend.
Qualifying – it was rather busy on Saturday for our qualifying session, which made it harder to find space to get a lap in, we were struggling with brake balance in the session but got blocked on our quickest laps ending the session in P7 but knowing we had the pace for a much higher position.
Sunday Race 1 – the conditions were drying, but our set up was perfect for the conditions. On the first lap, I quickly made it up to 5th place, and then, while going to 4th, unfortunately got hit by another car, causing a front left puncture, thankfully I made it back to the pits and was able to get back out onto track to gather data for the second race.
Sunday Race 2 – I started 21st. The conditions were a lot worse for the second race due to rain that fell just before we went out onto track. The drying conditions I was expecting unfortunately didn’t come. The car felt oversteery but good. I was working my way back through the pack and with the terrible visibility, but unfortunately, I wasn’t seen by another car and got hit again, causing me to lose my front splitter so halted progress finishing 8th in class.
This isn’t representative of our speed or hard work we have put into this weekend, but unfortunately, in motorsport, these things happen. As always, a massive thank you to my team, supporters, and helpers, we will be back… and stronger than ever.
Up next Brands Hatch in two weeks, let’s get back in the fight!’
