Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

15 May 2024

This week (Monday 13 May to Sunday 19 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week. It provides a great opportunity to increase understanding and reduce stigma surrounding mental health.

Taking care of your mental wellbeing is always vitally important, and this designated week provides a fantastic opportunity to remind us all of that.

As part of Cognition Land and Water’s annual training programme, staff undertook a mental health awareness course via iHasco earlier in the year. This course raised awareness of ill-health (particularly stress, depression, and anxiety), provided tools and guidance for daily wellbeing-management, and was aimed at removing the stigma surrounding mental health.

To further increase mental health awareness at Cognition, this week we have circulated, and displayed on site, a poster from Working Minds that details tips about how you can support good mental health. The Working Minds campaign brings together a range of tools and support to help workers understand the best ways to prevent work related stress and encourage good mental health. Please see the following link to find out more about the campaign: Working Minds - Work Right to keep Britain safe

We have also issued a reminder to our staff about who the trained mental health first aider is within the company, should they need support. Additionally, our Health and Safety Manager, Jake Johnston, has distributed a Green Event Brief to provide our employees with additional mental health related information. Site Managers will provide a reminder each morning this week on the key points noted within the Green Event Brief.
