David Skinner (Contracts Manager) and the whole Cognition Land and Water team at our former Homebase site in Wandsworth have again been scored ‘Excellent’ in a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme audit of the site.  This is the third audit of this particular site and you can see details of a previous audit here

Cognition has been carrying out the remediation and earthworks of the former Homebase site and the adjacent B&Q site for a number of years.  The works are being carried out on behalf of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) who are developing the sites in their largest Build-to-Rent scheme to date.  Our works have included building demolition, gas holder and base removal, ground and groundwater remediation, earthworks, soil stabilisation, groundworks, civils and infrastructure works.

In the audit, we obtained an ‘exceptional’ top-marks score of 9/9 in all five categories and an additional point for innovation.  The categories audited were:

  • Care about appearance;
  • Respect for the community;
  • Protect the environment;
  • Secure everyone’s safety; and
  • Value the workforce.

The additional score for innovation is particularly satisfying and centred around a novel solution we applied to the installation of deep drainage access chambers in close proximity to a perimeter, Network Rail retaining wall.  More details of this solution are here

Some of the key comments in the auditors report were:

  • This is an exemplary project.
  • The word “professional” springs to mind in everything that has occurred and continues to occur on this project.
  • The clearance of graffiti on another Client site and the clearance of the Community Garden are both an extremely positive reflection of the contractor’s practices and procedures.
  • The feedback from neighbours is further reinforced through key stakeholders further demonstrating that the contractor’s performance is rightly acknowledged by the public and by industry professionals alike.
  • I am nothing but highly impressed by the contractor’s commitment to the highest standards.
  • If only all site “visits” were like this one.

Well done to David and all the Cognition team at Wandsworth for upholding and promoting our culture of high quality and sustainable contracting.  If you want any more detail about our projects in Wandsworth, please contact david.skinner@cognitionltd.com
