We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed enabling and remediation works for St William Homes’ (Berkeley Group) at the former Bow Common Gasworks site in East London called Bow Green, this development of 1,450 homes is now progressing at pace with the first homes set to be completed in 2026. Cognition’s works on the project included enabling works, remediation, ground clearance, gasholder decommissioning, attenuation tank construction and piling attendance. We were delighted and grateful to receive the following positive feedback from St William’s project manager:
'Cognition were an excellent contractor who were in the detail of the remediation works and gave great support working alongside the EA in gaining the necessary approvals. Cognition were very safety conscious and very innovative with the materials reuse on site that ensured no material left the site, highlighting their sustainability awareness. The works were carried out over seven months and were completed ahead of program. The onsite management by Gerry and Jack along with the senior support meant the smooth running of the works. Cognition delivered an excellent programme of works, which unlocked the wider scheme enabling substructure works on Phase 1 to commence on time. I look forward to working with Cognition again in the near future.'
We have also received very positive comments back from the Environment Agency who have inspected/audited the site three times; before, during and after remediation works. Each time they have been impressed with the way the works have been carried out, site management, record keeping and compliance with the remediation strategy.
We look forward to working with St William Homes again soon!
