On Tuesday 19th March, Graham Bucknell, Cognition's Construction Director, was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London by way of redemption.
He is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Constructors, the 99th Livery Company, which represents senior professionals within the Construction Industry.
At London Guildhall, Graham made the centuries old declaration to King Charles III and the Lord Mayor of London in the presence of the Clerk to the Chamberlain before signing the Freedom. Graham was accompanied by his close family and Rob Fox, Managing Director of Cognition.
Freedom of the City remains as a unique part of London’s history and is one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today, believed to have been first presented in 1237. From the Middle Ages and the Victorian era, the Freedom was the right to trade, enabling members of a Guild or Livery to carry out their trade or craft in the Square Mile.
A very big congratulations to Graham for this massive achievement, from everyone at Cognition!
