Last week, two of Cognition’s graduates, Alfie and George, attended the AGS Conference in London.
With a focus on how to achieve sustainability and carbon neutrality within the industry, the day consisted of lectures, visiting pop ups, seeing how new technology is going to shape the industry in the future, and networking sessions. Interesting topics of discussion were explored such as, sustainable earthworks practice on major civil engineering projects, insights from the sustainable remediation of an agrochemical manufacturing facility, and sustainable finance and pension and climate disclosures. Our attending representatives gained a lot of valuable learning and networking experience from the conference. We look forward to the next one!
Also, the Cognition attendees have shared what they have gleaned from their experience at the conference:
· ‘The day was very educational. It was interesting learning from like-minded people in the industry and getting a glimpse into some major projects across the country. The networking event after was useful for catching up with people we knew as well as meeting new faces’ – George
· ‘The day consisted of a variety of lectures. My personal favourites were the sustainable finance lecture and the case study measuring carbon from design to construction at 2 Finsbury avenue. It was great going around the pop ups and seeing how new technology is going to shape the industry in the future. Alongside this the networking sessions where very useful as we were able to have a long conversion with consultants from Arcadis about their views on the lectures and the current projects they are working on’ - Alfie
