Back in October 2021, the Cognition Land and Water shares were transferred to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), providing indirect employee ownership of the company for the benefit of all employees.
The EOT also means that our employees have more say in the company, with representatives selected to champion their interests on the board of trustees.
Cognition have recently joined the Employee Ownership Association (EOA). As advocates of ‘people powered business’, they aid Employee Owned (EO) businesses in their development journey providing support, guidance, and tools for all stages of transition. They state that “EO businesses regularly outperform non-EO peers in almost every metric – they’re 8-12% more productive and invest more in their people, innovation, and communities”. As a testament to this, Cognition has a thriving staff development programme, and we pride ourselves on our willingness to invest in employee learning and development. Innovation is a key pillar of our approach to project delivery. We always take a case-by-case approach when providing solutions for our clients, generating innovative news ways to deliver projects. We have made big commitments to our social value initiatives and are continuing to improve our community engagement e.g., through careers fairs, charity football tournaments, and more.
Last week, we held workshops across multiple sites and offices to reiterate and clarify what the EOT means. Employees were given more information and resources pertaining to our EOT status to keep them informed as we continue our journey as an EOT.
