The annual ESS Contaminated Land Expo at the NEC is the leading event for professionals addressing environmental challenges through solutions for land remediation, soil contamination, and hazardous materials.
Graham Bucknell (Construction Director) and Andy O’Dea (Technical Director) represented Cognition Land and Water at the event. A great opportunity to learn about new technologies, products and suppliers, and to meet old friends and make some new contacts.
The event also hosted an extensive programme of presentations and keynote discussions on a wide range of topics, one of which was delivered by our Technical Director, Andy O’Dea. Andy presented to a packed audience on A Contractor’s Perspective on Redeveloping Historical Landfills – with Case Studies in which he challenged the current regulatory climate that, in his view, makes the regeneration of such site far more difficult and time consuming that it needs to be. There seemed to be plenty of sympathy and empathy in the audience for the difficulties faced on such projects!
Andy said, "It was a privilege to present at the event alongside some great speakers and have the opportunity to discuss the key challenges facing the remediation and ground engineering industry. It was also lovely to meet up with so many friends, colleagues, clients and suppliers at the Expo".
