Cognition’s New Apprentice

14 February 2025

Cognition Land & Water is working with Taylor Woodrow to deliver a major regeneration scheme for Enfield Council, consisting of remediation, enabling works and earthworks at the Meridian Water SIW project in Enfield.

Cognition is committed to delivering multiple apprenticeships on the Meridian Water SIW project; supporting their learning and future careers in the industry has been an amazing experience for the team. At Cognition, we are dedicated to community engagement and generating social value in the communities we serve. It has been great to a part of this project that places such a big emphasis on giving back to the community.

Our most recent apprentice, Kodel Whyte, has joined us as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor. He has shared with us how he has been finding his time at Cognition:

“My time as an apprentice at Cognition Land and Water has been an incredibly rewarding experience thus far. From the moment I walked through the doors on my first day, I was greeted with warmth and a genuine enthusiasm for my arrival. This positive atmosphere has continued throughout my apprenticeship, fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.

Working alongside a team of dedicated professionals, I have had the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the company, gaining invaluable insight into the different aspects of the business and how they function.

Throughout my tenure at Cognition Land and Water, I have been assigned various tasks that have challenged me to think critically and develop my skills in different areas. One such task has been researching and obtaining quotes for bespoke items, a responsibility that has allowed me to build upon my problem-solving abilities, as well as my understanding of the specific needs and requirements of the company's projects.

As an apprentice, the support and guidance provided by the Cognition Land and Water team have been clear. My mentors have consistently demonstrated patience and a willingness to share their expertise, ensuring that I am consistently learning and growing in my role. This hands-on approach to training has allowed me to gain practical experience while also developing a deep appreciation for the work that the company does.

In conclusion, my apprenticeship at Cognition Land and Water has been a life-changing opportunity, one that has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. The positive atmosphere, invaluable learning experiences, and the supportive nature of the team have made this journey a truly exceptional one, and I look forward to contributing to the company's continued success as I progress in my career.”
