In anticipation of this, yesterday Cognition’s Marina Read and Aaliyah Brown Murphy participated in a panel event for International Women’s Day at the Meridian Water SIW site. Organised by Pooja Godhania, Project Manager at Taylor Woodrow, women across the Meridian Water SIW project were invited to volunteer to sit on the panel. They discussed their careers and personal development in the construction industry, shared their advice for young people entering the industry, and delved into stories about their greatest career milestones so far. Time was also allotted for questions from the audience, filled with the team at Meridian Water SIW. Thank you to Pooja Godhania and Taylor Woodrow for organizing this amazing event.
The UN Women’s theme for this year’s International Women’s Day theme is, ‘For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.’ This year’s theme is a call for action to ‘unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all’, with a focus on empowering the next generation of women and girls with the aim of enacting lasting change. This week is also Women in Construction Week (March 2-8), with the theme being ‘Together we Rise, celebrating the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry’. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the women in the industry and the value they bring their teams!
Happy International Women’s Day to all women and girls!
