Google Tracking Progress at Cognition’s Remediation of Former B&Q Site, Wandsworth

If we didn’t know better, we might think that Google are stalking us and our remediation and materials management project at the Former B&Q Site in Wandsworth!  A series of aerial photos of the site showing progress with the remediation and earthworks have recently appeared on the Google Maps platform.

If we didn’t know better, we might think that Google are stalking us and our remediation and materials management project at the Former B&Q Site in Wandsworth!  A series of aerial photos of the site showing progress with the remediation and earthworks have recently appeared on the Google Maps platform.

Cognition Land and Water completed soil and groundwater remediation, bioremediation of gas holder infill materials, gas holder base removal, site earthworks, and installation of cement stabilised pile mats at the site last year.  All of this work was to de-risk the site ahead of redevelopment by Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) for their largest Build-to-Rent scheme to date.  This was the first phase of the project and Cognition have since completed similar remediation and ground engineering works on the adjacent Former Homebase Site.

As part of the works, Cognition has deployed our unique Fabric Extraction System (FabEx) to draw out and dispose of hydrocarbons trapped in the groundwater and soil beneath the site originating from the former gasworks.  This innovative technology is unique to Cognition in the UK and dramatically reduces the volume of groundwater treatment required with resultant cost and programme benefits.

If you would like more information on how we have brought value and novel solutions to the ground risk issues at this site and others, please contact David Skinner at david.skinner@cognitionltd.com
